ISO 18001 Occupational health and work safety management system

OHSAS 18001 is a relatively new management system, which aims to improve the operations related to the occupational health and work safety in an organisation. It is a known fact that the personnel are the most important resource of a company and taking care of it is profitable. Already one person’s absence for a week can result expensive to the company, and in a big organisation the number of days of absence can accumulate to hundreds or thousands a year. Moreover, well organised occupational health and work safety matters make the recruiting of new employees easier and the commitment of the old employees to the service of the organisation stronger.

In Sweden, the occupational health and work safety matters are well taken care of, but there are still relatively few certificated occupational health and work safety management systems in companies and organisations. With the system the current operations could be better modelled and for example the follow-up and the development of services would become easier.
